Hello,
Name is Neil Hunt and before COVID days I travelled extensively with my wife. Now I am single and am keen to explore what solo travel as a septuagenarian is like. In my mind it is limitless but reality will no doubt keep me in check. I have reached the end of my working life, the past 28 years as a Senior High School Principal and over the past two years have expended all of my Long Service Leave (for non-Australians that’s another story).

I enjoy meeting new people, craft Beer, expensive wine, and good whiskey all of which suggest I need to exercise to keep the weight off. I find that I discover a new country through its food, in particular, the manner in which every country socializes with its own special differences encapsulates the culture of that country. From there it’s culture, architecture, sports, events, and the arts all flow.
I am a father and grandfather of two. I live in the heart of the wonderful city of Perth with my children close by, while my eldest lives and works in Melbourne with her partner and twin boys.
Currently, I am taking lessons to gain my motorbike license and hope to use this as a means of getting around many towns and the countryside in the future.
During July/August 2023 I travelled with a group of friends throughout Scotland and Ireland for five weeks. It was a time of socializing, enjoying the specialty (whiskey) of Scotland and far too many Guinness in Ireland but it was fun, and I made it back home with a need to shed 5 Kilograms. In 2024 I decided to travel solo through Vietnam and finished this trip in Thailand where I spent a week in Krabi. With time on my side, I visited visit to the Cambodian cities of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap then traveled through Laos which all added to my understanding of SE Asian culture.
I finished 2024 with a trip to the French Riviera, Sicily, and the Amalfi Coast. The Sicilian adventure on this trip will be with a small tour group for 14 days.
A further trips to Thailand and Vietnam, (both amazing countries) then onto South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore and an extended trip to South America complemented my 2025 travel. The south of USA and unexplored Europe are in the pipeline for 2026 and beyond. But who knows what life will throw my way???
